As some of you know, we attempted a Guinness World Record Noodle Float Whew! What a day! I’m sure you’ll recognize some faces. In short... 894 people on noodles registered from the on-the-water “sign up” boat prior to postponing due to lightning. We’ve had over well over 30 people tell us it was canceled before they were able to register. Many others didn’t even make it to the area because of weather, so the total number would have been quite large. A huge mass of people with noodles were prepared to enter the water (roped off noodle area) but the event was cut short for safety. A large group of the people never registered or attended as a result of the weather. The final tally would easily have double without the bad weather. There were multiple TV, paper and radio stations covering the event. A plane (Weatherbys Jim Boggs) and helicopter were ready, but not able to take off due to the approaching weather. We had an emcee/musician (Brendon MacNaughton) singing and controlling the crowd. The police chief and mayor were on hand as official witnesses. GWR (Guinness World Records) notified us July 6th that they “are not able to accept this as a Guinness World Record stating “it is not something for which we are currently interested in listing as a record...” So...From strong community support, we will be doing it again next year. We have offered to sponsor a GWR representative to be here to document it. We’ve sent support info and pictures backing up this year and our next year plan. “IF” we’re still not accepted for this year or next year, we’ll establish our own NWRA (Noodle World Record Authority) set up some categories and yes... establish this as a world record with plans for thousands next year.
